Carrying single items

Furniture delivery left at the entrance? We carry it up for you

Our furniture delivery help is for the moment a store or online seller drops a sofa, wardrobe, bed or washing machine at the building entrance and drives off. A small crew carries it up to your flat, or moves single items between floors or apartments. The price depends on the item, the floor and the access. Book in English by phone, text or WhatsApp.

The gap in delivery

When delivery stops at the front door

Many stores and marketplaces in Tbilisi deliver "to the building" rather than "to the room". The last few flights of stairs are left to you.

If the delivery terms say curbside or entrance only, you will be left with a heavy, boxed item on the pavement or in the lobby. We can meet the delivery, or come shortly after, and carry it to the room where it belongs.

This is especially common with large online orders and with secondhand furniture bought through listings, where the seller helps load a van but not much more. It also happens when you buy a single appliance, such as a fridge or washing machine, and the driver does not carry it upstairs.

Tell us the delivery window the store gave you. If it is vague, we can agree a time for you to call us once the item has arrived, so the crew is not waiting on the street.

Typical items

What we carry most often

Sofas and corner units

Long three-seaters and L-shaped sofas are the classic problem on narrow Soviet landings. Corner units often split into sections, which helps.

Wardrobes

Flat-packed wardrobes are easy to carry but take time to build. Assembled ones are tall and heavy and may need to be tilted carefully through doorways.

Beds and mattresses

Bed frames usually come in parts. Large mattresses bend less than people expect, so check the stairwell turn.

Washing machines

Dense and awkward to grip. Transport bolts at the back should be in place for any move; check the manual or ask the seller.

Fridges

Tall and best kept upright. After a move, many manufacturers suggest waiting before switching on, so read the manual.

Pianos and safes

These are special items. Send photos and the floor, and we will tell you whether carrying or a lift makes more sense.

We also move a single piece within the same building, for example a wardrobe from your flat to a neighbor who bought it, or a sofa from the seventh floor to the second. For a complete household, the apartment moving page is a better fit.

Before you buy

Measure the route, not just the room

A sofa that fits perfectly in the living room is no use if it cannot get there. Measuring takes ten minutes.

  1. 1

    Measure the item

Note the length, depth and height, and the diagonal depth for sofas. Stores usually list these online.

  2. 2

Measure every door on the way

The building door, the flat door and the door of the destination room. Measure the width with the door fully open.

  3. 3

    Check the stairwell turn

In older blocks the tightest point is the half-landing between flights. Photograph it from above and below.

  4. 4

    Check the lift

Measure the inside of the lift car and the door opening. Many lifts in Saburtalo and Didube blocks are far smaller than a sofa.

  5. 5

    Send us the numbers

With the item size and the route measurements, we can usually say in advance whether it will pass.

If the answer is no, you still have options: some pieces can be taken apart, some can be lifted through a window, and some are better returned before the delivery date.

Assembly

Assembly is agreed separately

Carrying and assembly are two different jobs. If your wardrobe or bed arrives flat-packed, tell us whether you also want it put together, because that needs a different amount of time and the right tools.

Connecting a washing machine or dishwasher to the water and drain is plumbing work. Our tap and fitting repair page covers who to call.

Too big for the stairs

When a crane or external lift is needed

Sometimes the measurements settle it: the sofa will not turn on the landing and cannot be dismantled. For an upper-floor flat with a balcony or a wide window, an external lift can raise the item from the street. It needs space for the equipment below, clearance from wires and trees, and good weather.

Whether it is possible for your building is confirmed from photos, which is why it pays to ask before the delivery date. Our furniture lift and crane page explains what the site needs.

Landlords and hosts

Furnishing a rental or a short-stay flat

Landlords and Airbnb hosts often buy several pieces at once and need them in place before the next guest checks in.

If you are fitting out an apartment for international tenants, the order usually arrives in stages: a sofa one day, beds the next, a washing machine the week after. We can carry each delivery as it comes, or wait until everything is ready and do it in a single visit, which is often simpler for everyone.

Hosts who live abroad sometimes cannot be present. In that case, arrange for a trusted person with keys to open the flat, and send us photos of where each item should stand. Communication with you can stay in English by message while the crew works on site.

Once the furniture is in, a thorough clean before the first booking helps. Our Airbnb cleaning page explains how turnovers work.

On the day

Small things that make carrying easier

  • Keep the item in its packaging until it reaches the room, so it is protected on the stairs.
  • Clear the path in your flat, including shoes, rugs and anything on the floor of the hallway.
  • Let the building administrator know if the lift needs to be held or protected.
  • Inspect the item for transport damage from the store before our crew starts, and photograph any problem.
  • Have a place ready for the old item if you are replacing one, and decide whether it stays, goes to a neighbor or gets removed.

If the old sofa or bed needs to leave the building for good, our waste removal page (in Georgian) at waste removal covers disposal. For the logic behind prices, see the moving cost guide, and for everything else, the movers overview.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can you pick up furniture from a store and bring it to my flat?

Yes, if the item is ready for pickup. Send the store address, the product and your address, and we will quote transport together with carrying.

The delivery arrives on a weekday afternoon. Can you meet it?

Often, yes. Availability for a specific time is confirmed on the call, so get in touch as soon as you know the delivery window.

Do you carry a single washing machine up to the fifth floor?

Yes, single appliances are a normal job. Tell us whether there is a working lift and send a photo of the stairwell.

Will you assemble the furniture as well?

Only if we agree on it in advance. Assembly is a separate task with its own time, so mention it when you book.

What if the item turns out not to fit?

We stop before anything gets damaged and discuss options with you: taking it apart, an external lift, or returning it to the seller.

Can you move furniture between two flats in the same building?

Yes. Moves between floors or neighboring apartments are quick jobs, and the price reflects that.

Who is responsible if the item arrives damaged from the store?

Transport damage from the seller is a matter between you and the store. Check and photograph the item before our crew picks it up.
